Ruling Memorandum on Bylaws

Ruling Memorandum

February 15, 2016

On the subject of if a member is delinquent on his or her dues should that member be required to pay the initiation fee and reapply as a new member?

After a review of the bylaws it is the conclusion of the board that any member that is delinquent on his and her dues after the March 1 deadline must reapply as a new member and is subject to all fees and filings that apply to a new member.

Furthermore, it is the opinion of this board that a member that is delinquent in their dues no longer qualified as a Member, and therefore their Membership and Flying Privileges are revoked.  Since flying privileges are part of Membership they are subject to the same rules.

Also the interpretation of the rules is: there are only two categories of membership applications to the club.

  1. Currents members who are renewing and pay only the dues.
  2. Nonmembers who must pay dues and the additional fee.

There is no provision in our rules for prior members who would like to join the club again.

Article 3: Membership

Section 3: Dues, Assessments, Etc.

A seventy-five dollar ($75.00) initiation fee shall be incurred on all new members.  This amount is not pro-rated.  Membership renewals will not be pro-rated.  Existing members who request a hardcopy of the newsletter will incur an additional ten dollar ($10.00) fee. Dues are payable, on or before January 1 of each and every calendar year and delinquent as of March 1 of that year.  Those members who are delinquent paying their dues on time (by March 1) immediately lose their flying privileges and cannot fly at the field until their dues are paid in full.
